Can a Topper Evoke Laughter? (Legacy Part 8)

TOPPER – an exceedingly good witticism that surpasses all that have gone before. Humor, wit, witticism, wittiness, humor – a message whose ingenuity or verbal skill or incongruity has the power to evoke laughter.

Groaner: My wife is such a bad cook that the flies took up a collection to fix the screen door.

Funny ?: My teeth are gone, my digestion’s a mess, my joints ache, but at least my mind is still there, knock on wood. (Knocks) Who’s there?

HA HA HA

Who does not enjoy laughing? Laughter, sense of humor, are all something every person on earth needs. We can’t go through life depressed, bitter, angry, sad and whatever negative emotion you can find. You might say that is easy for me to write. No, it is not. I, like others, have had my hardships in life. However, I have chosen to learn from them; to be comforted by others, and to laugh at the funny memories I have. I enjoy having a sense of humor and I would not want it any other way.

A sense of humor…is needed armor. Joy in one’s heart and some laughter on one’s lips is a sign that the person down deep has a pretty good grasp of life. Hugh Sidey.

THE JOKE IS ON ME

My friends and family will tell you that I love to laugh, to tell jokes – even if the joke is on me. I don’t mind it because it makes everyone laugh and it is fun to watch others laugh. Slap-stick comedy is something else I enjoy. Yes, you read that. I’ll do some goofy thing if I know it will evoke laughter; tell some joke, or a one-liner – with the desired outcome of laughter.

A joke is a very serious thing. Winston Churchill

One cannot leave a legacy of positive leadership if one does not have a sense of humor. This does not require anyone to be a comedian. But it does require one to see the humorous side of life.

FOR THE FUN OF IT…

But, before you go, I have included a short clip from the Three Stooges movie that came out in 2012. Wait for the “pun” at the end and have a good chuckle.

  1. That was a cute video clip. Good advice not to go without humor in life. I could do much better with that!! We get so caught up in just what needs to be done, etc.
